Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays

Prayers purify the soul and mind. It provides spiritual strength. It creates a foundation of success. But one should understand what he or she is praying for?

In Hinduism, prayers are mostly in Sanskrit. Mostly the prayers, do not know what is he or she praying? Therefore to gain the maximum benefits and achieve devotional fervor one should understand the meaning of his prayers.

The art of praying has been perfected in Indian through practices of centuries. Every true Hindu begins his days with prayer and it is the part and parcel of our daily life where we chant various mantras during a different span of the day.

In our daily routine prayers, One can count it to be Morning Prayer, Prayer before bathing, Prayer before studies, Prayer before the meal and lastly Prayer before going to bed.

There are various prayers for different gods and goddess when we worship them.

तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम्
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ||

May the divine light of the Supreme Being illuminate our intellect, to lead us along a path of righteousness.

In Hinduism, it is said that not only should you know that what for you are praying but also your prayers should be with utmost sincerity and purity. As a Hindu even though you pray with reverential silence with prayerful attitude and clarity of mind regarding the purpose, your prayers will be heard by the almighty and responded.

Prayers are meant to nourish your soul, cleanse it and get you energized. It provides a direct connection between your soul and the soul of the almighty God.

You should always begin your days by offering prayers to Lord Surya, which begin with Surya Namaskar and early morning offering of pure water during the sunrise.
